Consistent Jul 27, 2010 Velocifero and Witching Hour are so similar they could have been a two disc set. Not only are they consistent to each other, but each of them only contain one or two "wild card" tracks that break away in a different direction. I really like the two foreign language tracks on this disc. They are rare moments where Ladytron are slightly less recognizable. Ladytron are not like Goldfrapp, trying to make each disc sound different. Instead their evolution is much better paced and less eratic. However, a Goldfrapp/Ladytron concert bill would certainly get my money. I wonder if they know each other...
It grows on you... Feb 17, 2010 Upon first listen, this album was a shoulder shrug. Definitely a HUGE step down from the amazing "Witching Hour". I didn't find myself getting too far into this album without wanting to switch back to their other albums. However, after a few listens, it seems to catch on quite nicely. Even though I still maintain that this is Ladytron's weakest effort to date, it's still decent and enjoyable. The highlights are "I'm Not Scared", "Burning Up", "The Lovers", "Deep Blue", "Tomorrow", and "Versus".
Not a bad album at all, it's just "eh...". If you've never heard any of their work before, and you're thinking of becoming a fan, you won't want to start with this one. Start with "Witching Hour" or "Light & Magic".
Ingenious Jan 09, 2010 Beneath Velocifero's molded plastic facade, this album is ingenious, slyly tuneful New Wave, with buzzing synth melodies chattering at each other like packet switchers. This is of course computer-based music, but like a Towers of Asia or Neon Indian record, there is something pleasingly human about it.

Wow! Oct 04, 2009 Incredible! This album delivers! It will blow you away! Make sure that you crank the bass up on this album.
It is good Aug 03, 2009 I have been sort of underwhelmed by some previous Ladytron submissions, but some of the songs on this one are quite the diddy. It feels very heavy on the organish synth, but it seems like a good amount. It normally takes a few tries for me to get in to one of their pieces, but a few I got in to right away.
